I enjoyed my stay at Sunny Rock while attending a photography course at the Haliburton School of Art. Thank you Sally & Jan for your kind hospitality. I wish the Heron had cooperated – but it gives me a reason to return!

I was once standing on the deck with a father and his 5 year old. We were watching the Blue Heron down in the falls fishing. I turned to the 5 year old and asked ” if you had a Blue Heron living in your back yard what would you call him?”. The child looked up at me and said “Harriet“. So be it…Harriet the Heron lives on the Drag River in the Haliburton Highlands...and he (Harriet) thinks its a great place to live and fish. Out of the mouth of babes…no gender barriers at all in that child. Sunny Rock Sally.
