The Gaia Centre, Haliburton Highlands Ontario, is presenting a workshop on “The Vision Quest” lead by Doug Aldworth .
It is true that all earth-based cultures utilize the vision quest as a core component in preparing a person to move from one phase of life into another. Intentionally depriving the personality or ego of all its worldly props, including food allows the soul to surface into the conscious mind and we can glimpse who we are and our purpose.
Because in the present context of heightened anxiety and high speed life-styles there is disillusionment with work and family, the vision quest remains a powerful tool for reconnecting personality to soul, the foundation of our creativity, meaning and cosmic community.
In this introductory evening (May 13, 2006 from 7:30-9:30 pm, Registration Fee $15) explore the role and experience of vision and the transforming nature and relevance of the Vision Quest in today’s context. This is an information session. Resources available. For those interested in experiencing a vision quest on their own or within an organized setting follow- up preparation can be arranged.
Doug Aldworth is an avid outdoorsman with a passion for earth-based rituals. Doug has experienced contemporary versions of the vision quest and is interested in helping guide others. Doug is a disciple of the soul and is committed to sharing his own story of letting go, embracing change and seeking greater connection day by day to the mysteries of soul and the earth. He sees himself as a “passage maker;” a person helping to opening doors into unseen worlds of undiscovered personal potential.
