Dear Sally,
We had it all: a room with an amazing view; a cold drink on a warm deck; snow flurries that made our retreat to the fireplace cozy; peaceful moments to breathe and active, laugh provoking games of Wii! If this wasn’t enough to keep smiles on our faces, there was you (and Ace) who shared yourselves – great stories, great food and a geocaching “adventureâ€. This truly was the highlight of March Break! Thank you for doing what you do and for doing it with such an expert touch!

Art Auction – Haliburton School of The Arts
The Value of Art
The value of the art in our annual art auction is twofold. There is the material value of pieces themselves but there is also the lasting impact that the sale of those pieces has on artists, their art, and the art world in general. Funds raised provide bursaries for Haliburton School of The Arts students, enabling them to access educational opportunities that enhance, challenge and develop their skills. The energy, talent and dedication of these students enrich the school as well as the communities they return to. Over 100 works of art are generously donated by dedicated faculty members who are committed to ongoing education.
There will be a summer-long display of donated items at the Fleming Campus in Haliburton.
The Haliburton School of The Arts and the Friends of Sir Sandford Fleming College gratefully acknowledge the on-going support of the faculty, staff and friends who donate so generously to this event.

Explore Nature’s Gold Workshop
Come and “Explore Natures†Gold with us! The perfect time and activity while you visit the Haliburton Highlands Ontario Canada.
It’s a Canadian Maple experience at its finest! For those of you interested in trying new and unique products there’s a local Haliburton business that is marketing fruit/maple wines and other products all made from maple sugar.
A most interesting winery is the Moon Shadows Estate Winery of Haliburton.
It is classified as a fruit winery, but is also Ontario’s first maple winery. With their own personal techniques and variances they are able to utilize natural maple syrup in the fermentation process, thus creating over 20 unique fruit and maple wines. They have fully embraced the tradition of maple sugaring and take pride in it with their various maple products you’ll be sure to love.
Haliburton Highlands Trails and Tours Network is offering a workshop on March 21st, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. hosted at the Moon Shadows Estate Winery. Participants will begin by snowshoeing through the sugar bush for an interpretative tour with Eric, owner/operator, of Moon Shadows Estate Winery. Seeing the process first hand of setting up the bush, tapping trees, gathering sap and learn valuable information from an experienced and successful individual.
Participants will then visit inside the “sugar shack†for a look at the equipment and the processes that are used to turn sap into Nature’s Gold.
All will have the opportunity to taste a variety of maple products from the sap to sugar.
Lastly participants will take a “tour and taste†at Moon Shadows Estate Winery to learn how Nature’s Gold is used in creating a variety of unique and flavorful wines.
There are still a number of spaces available for registration! To guarantee your spot please register before March 16th 2009.
