Haliburton Highlands Summer Festival 2010 Season
Here is the latest from Highlands Summer Festival…..announcing our 2010 season. Season passes now on sale.
Welcome to the exciting eleventh season of Highlands Summer Festival and the fourth for the Highlands Opera Studio. We have a fantastic line-up this year including:
• The Goodbye Girl: opens the season. A fun-filled musical with book by Neil Simon and lyrics by David Zippel and music by Marvin Hamlisch, it is based on Simon’s original screenplay for the 1977 film of the same name.
• Sylvia: an adult comedy, perfect for every dog lover…..and, on the other hand, it’s perfect for everyone who doesn’t like dogs. See what all the yapping is about.
• The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940: Despite the title, this isn’t a musical. To make up for that shortcoming, we guarantee a few dead bodies and loads of laughs.
• Summer Wind: Highlands Summer Festival veteran actor and musician Tom Regina has assemble a woodwind quintet featuring music for everyone from the classics to Scot Joplin • Charlie Farquharson and Them Udders: Everyone’s favourite Canadian stand-up comic Don Harron will be on our stage for two nights. Enjoy Don’s cutting wit, wry observations and, of course, meet his old friend, Charlie Farquharson.
• Opera, Opera Opera: To add to your theatre experience this year, the highly successful Highlands Opera Studio is back with two Chamber Opera evenings, the popular Excerpts Concerts and Four Exciting Nights of Opera featuring La Boheme by Puccini.
We have once again held the line on season pass prices. There has been no increase over last year. Once again we are inviting patrons to build their own season pass from the eight productions being presented. You will see from the enclosed material, that our Christmas pass special starts with a minimum of four productions from the Highlands Summer Festival line-up, at a cost of $80, a saving of 20% off the single ticket prices. But, if you are interested in additional shows, another concert, Highlands Opera Studio performances etc., you can simply add to your pass at $20 per performance. What a great Christmas gift for someone special on your list, (or even yourself!). Use the enclosed order form to request your passes. (For those who know now the shows they want to see and when, the “Cut to The Chase†feature allows you to order tickets immediately.) Please note, these special, pre-season pass prices are only available until January 15, 2010. So be sure to order yours today.
Highlands Summer Festival and Highlands Opera Studio patrons continue to support our efforts, not only by purchasing tickets, but by donating to the Friends of Highlands Summer Festival. With these generous gifts, theatre enthusiasts have added to the quality of our productions each year. As well, they have helped enhance the theatrical infrastructure at the Northern Lights Performing Art Pavilion. The Festival appreciates the encouragement of our efforts offered through the donations to Friends of Highlands Summer Festival. Past donors and those who are considering making a donation for the first time, should note that Highlands Summer Festival is a not-for-profit, charitable company. (See enclosed note from the Friends of the Festival on how you can become a supporter and a member of Highlands Summer Festival.) With the season set and the planning already started, we can feel the excitement building. The Christmas Season Pass promotion lifts the curtain on the eleventh anniversary season of great drama, comedy and music. We look forward to seeing you at the theatre.
