Minden Ice Car Racing CASC in the Haliburton Highlands Ontario
The roar of engines and the smell of exhaust are what the visitors and watchers of the Minden Ice Car Racing will experience at the Minden fairgrounds on the morning of January 23 as banged-up Chevys and old Volkswagens navigated their way around a track of sheer ice.
The Magnum Ice Race Series is hosted by the Ontario Region of the Canadian Automobile Sports Club (CASC) and will continue over the next five weekends.
The whole Ontario series is run in Minden and Racers come here from all over the province from as far away as North Bay and Ottawa.
Two hoours North of Toronto Ontarion approximately 100 ice car racers will made their way to Minden on Saturday and Sunday starting January 23, 2010.
This weekend will be the first racing weekend of the 2010 CASC season. The season runs for 5 weeks and longer if the winter cold holds out.
Ice racing is a sport enjoyed by young and old alike and requires a special licence I think. Car race around a specially prepared kidney shaped ice track in cars prepared specially for safety in the ice racing sport;
For the spectator the races are free to watch and will be taking place at the Minden fairgrounds for each of the next five weekends beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
We (Jan and Sally) accommodate many drivers and spectators at the Sunny Rock Bed and Breakfast.
Guests who come for 2 nights receive a hardy House Dinner for no charge on their arrival night.
