Haliburton Folk Camp

Filed under: Activities in the Highlands, Jan Feb Mar — Sally at 12:47 am on Thursday, January 7, 2010

The Haliburton County Folk Society invites you to join us for a long weekend (Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon), one of a kind Folk Music experience for adults in the Haliburton Highlands. Winter Folk Camp II is very similar to our first Camp in March of 2009 except that Camp II is one day longer. We have also added another “stream” by providing beginner and advanced guitar classes.

The Camp is again being held at YMCA Wanakita near Haliburton, Ontario and is intended to be a late winter, affordable get-away with lots of music (concerts, classes, workshops, song circles, jamming and so on) in pleasant wooded surroundings with wonderful camaraderie, comfortable accommodations and great food.

The program has been designed to engage novice players, more experienced musicians and interested, but not particularly musical, Folk Music devotees. A weekend with us and those dreaded February “blahs” will be banished for another year!

The Winter Folk Camp program includes classes and workshops on Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon and on Monday morning
There will be evening concerts/ceilidhs on Saturday and Sunday featuring our Artists in Residence and showcasing some of our wonderful local talent.
Time has been left for a variety of complimentary outside activities (cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking etc.) and for jamming, snoozing or anything else you may wish to do.
