Your hospitality is amazing! Your cooking was delicious.

Dear Sally & Jan…Our 40th Anniversary get-away was a wonderful and memorable experience. Your hospitality is amazing! Your cooking was delicious. We loved meeting your friends and sharing meals together. Ace is a great dog. The rooms are lovely and unique in a setting fit for royalty. That is how you made us feel this weekend – like royal guests.
It was so nice to sit on the decks and watch the Blue Heron, ducks and seagull playing in the rapids. The lake with the coloured trees was breath-taking at this time of year. We really enjoyed guessing what all the “What’s its” were.
We will definitely promote this sunny rock bed & breakfast to everyone we meet, and hopefully we will return again soon. Keep up the good work.

With much appreciation
Henry & Susan

Thanks for the hospitality, history, stories and “what’s its” at breakfast….and cushy canoe trip

After 25, 22 and 21 years of interior canoe camping, we were ready for a “cushy” canoe trip, no long portages, no sleeping on the ground, but still beautiful scenery, lakes to paddle and time together.
Sunny Rock Bed and Breakfast provided us with the best of the two worlds. Thanks for the hospitality, history, stories and “what’s its” at breakfast. Oh, and of course the water massage.

Sally & Jan…Lynne and I were just passing through the Haliburton Highlands and needed a place to stay for the night. We were lucky enough to have stumbled across your Sunny Rock B&B. Love to Pick up the Pine Studio and Transport it Home

Sally & Jan what an amazing place you have created here, at Sunny Rock B&B, building upon the first owners. It’s a wonderful retreat and tranquil setting perfect. I’d love to pick up the Pine Studio and transport it home with me.
I’m so glad that we found you in the Haliburton Highlands when our dog-sledding and sleigh ride fell through due to warm weather. The fishing lodge we had booked wasn’t quite right for relaxing when outdoor activities became muddy.
Musti, my dog has been welcomed many places – this is one of the best.
Thank you for the great breakfast and an opportunity to gather and talk.
Ace sure is a cutie! All the best

husband…suprised me….for my 40th birthday

Filed under: Guest Testimonials,Pine Studio Guest Messages — Sally at 9:13 pm on Sunday, November 14, 2010

Dear Sally & Jan What a wonderful surprise! Unknown to me, my husband Trevor made plans for the important women in my life to surprise me by bringing me to the Sunny Rock Bed and Breakfast for my 40th birthday!!
Five women, no husbands, no children, lots of alcohol, great food, music, dancing and enough laughter to carry us through until our next ‘Girls weekend’!
Thank you for the quiet, the scenery and the nice breakfasts. I could ask for nothing more for a birthday gift.

Dear Sally, Jan & Ace Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You have an amazing spot here in the Haliburton Highlands. The golf was wonderful at both Blairhampton Golf Course and Haliburton Highlands Golf Course. We did however fall in love with the Highlands course. An excellent nine hole course to be enjoyed by all.
Thanks for including us in all activities.

The Drag River Ancient Turtle

Filed under: Guest Testimonials,Pine Studio Guest Messages,Sights, Sounds and Observations! — Sally at 2:32 pm on Friday, July 8, 2005

We had just returned to Sunny Rock from a local day trip and were making a quick change of clothes in the Pine Studio for an anticipated ‘Natural Whirlpool’ swim. I looked out toward the water over the balcony and saw what I assumed was a very slow moving log…the odd thing was it was moving against the current.

With logic on my side, I reached for the binoculars and took a magnified look. The slow moving log creeping its way up-current was actually a very large turtle (the neck & head of this enormous turtle was what looked like the log!).

With a closer look, the turtle’s shell (bigger than what my arms could wrap around) followed just under the water’s surface. She was solitary, independant, strong, alone…but she shared her presence with me.

I called my partner to see her dinosaur beauty (the turtle), but as quick as she came for a look, the turtle submerged underwater and vanished.

For that brief moment, the turtle was not along – or maybe it was me that wasn’t.

Oh that we could spend a month at the Sunny Rock B&B

It’s time to leave and I’m feeling sad.
Eleven thirty in the morning and the sun is shining bright – reflecting off the water running from the dam and sparkling, with shadows from the brightly coloured autumn leaves. Great photo opportunities and weather warm as toast.
Mary and I have spent the last two days staying in the “Studio” and trekking up and down the local roads. Our evenings spent in front of the fireplace. Cap that off with a couple of marvellous breakfasts and you come up with the perfect weekend getaway.
Oh that we could spend a month here at the Sunny Rock B&B. Perfect for the winter months as well. Well time to go.
