Hike Haliburton September 23-25, 2011

Yours Outdoors is pleased to announce its coordination of the 2011 Hike Haliburton Festival – now offering over 30 hikes on over 200 kms of trails!

Now entering its 9th year, the Festival has had its ups and downs. Originally conceived and coordinated by the Trails and Tour Network, the Festival was taken over by the County of Haliburton in 2010 after the Network folded. In 2010, the Festival was a scaled down version with 14 hikes that were This year, in an effort to revitalize the Hike Haliburton event, Yours Outdoors was asked by the County of Haliburton to organize the hike program. It is a great fit given Barrie Martin’s commitment to providing quality outdoors adventures and his personal history with the festival – he was a past president of the Trails and Tours Network and initiated the Hike Haliburton Festival in 2002.

This year, Yours Outdoors and the County of Haliburton are incredibly pleased to announce that the Hike Haliburton Festival returns Friday September 23rd to Sunday September 25th with more than twice the number of hikes in 2010 as well as festival concerts!

So come explore the natural and cultural heritage of the Highlands or just come for a good workout. Register for themed hikes lead by knowledgeable and engaging leaders and personalities, or venture out on one or more our scenic public trails on your own with friends and family. Some of the guided hikes will take place on our public trails; others will explore trails on the properties of proud landowners. Guided hikes range in length from less than one kilometer to over 15 km in length. The hikes are free unless indicated. Donations are always welcome.

As well, join Hike Haliburton and Haliburton’s hottest new duo, Amelia and the Mayor, for the festival opening on Friday September 23rd at the Dominion Hotel in Minden. And on Saturday evening, September 24th, Hike Haliburton is pleased to present singer-songwriter David Archibald at the Haliburton Fish Hatchery.
